UPDATED: Question of the Week

What does one need to know in order to be saved? Please explain your answer.

UPDATE: For instance, must one be told about the dual nature of Christ, the resurrection, the judgment of God, sin, etc. in order to be truly saved?

Is it really a matter of "knowing" something? I don't think I like the word; "know" in this question. Maybe it bothers me because I have seen people who know the Bible and what it says really well, but read it like a history book and do not believe it is God's true words and alive today. I would replace the word "know" with the word; "believe." But then I read James 2:19 where it says that even the demons "believe" that there is one God. Then I read in Job that he says that he "knows" that his Redeemer lives. In Psalms we are to be still and "know" that He is God, and we ask Him to search us and "know" our hearts in Psalm 139. In Jeremiah 24 God says that He will give his people a heart to "know" Him so that they may "know" He is the Lord. In John 10 Jesus says that He is The Good Shepard and that He "knows" His sheep and they "know" Him, just as God The Father "knows" Him and He "knows" the Father. I don't know......I am rambling/thinking while writing this. I was going to say that they need to know God first, but I do not think someone can fully know God right away when they receive salvation. It is through the on-going relationship after salvation that a person get's to know God. At the beginning, it only takes a big step of faith through believing that Christ died on the cross for their sins (well, and it takes those things too later, but more at the start). I don't know if I am making any sense. Is anything I am thinking biblically correct Joe? Maybe I just don't know how to answer the question.

1. They are sinful and that sin seperates them from God and they are headed to an eternal life in hell.
2. Christ, God's only son who lived a blameless and sinless life died on the cross for their sins and He is the only way to God and eternal life in heaven.
